Read that again. At a press gaggle on Monday, Trump was asked why he’s encouraging his own supporters to vote by mail when he has spent years claiming it’s full of fraud. His answer was a mess. “They’ll vote by mail or vote in person. I’d rather have them vote in person, but they can vote by mail if they want. Because we seem to have no choice.” Then he went right back to the talking point. “There is a lot of cheating in vote by mail. A lot of cheating all over.” And that’s when the reporter stepped in.
They told him, right there, that there is no evidence of widespread fraud in mail-in voting. Trump’s response? He called the reporter fake news. That’s it. No evidence. No proof. Just an attack on the person who asked. Think about that. The president claims mail-in voting is full of cheating, tells his supporters to do it anyway, and when a reporter calmly corrects the record on live camera, he has no answer. And here’s the part he left out. Trump votes by mail himself. Thank you to the reporter who didn’t let him get away with it.
