THIS IS INSANE: Donald Trump is sending $500 checks to nearly one million people, and he’s enclosing a personal letter bragging about his healthcare record, just a month before the midterms.
The checks are going to people in 30 states who bought ACA plans through the federal marketplace and paid what the administration calls excessive fees. The administration says the money comes from a surplus pool of funds.
But the checks aren’t arriving alone.
Each one comes with a letter signed by Trump.
“Since returning to office, I have fought to lower Healthcare Costs, increase Accountability, and Put Patients First.”
Think about that.
A month before voters head to the polls, nearly a million people are getting a check in the mail with the President’s signature and a pitch for his record.
Trump even posted a video from the Oval Office to promote it, saying the administration is “giving the money back to the people who were wrongly ripped off.”
And the timing is impossible to miss.
Republicans are fighting to hold their majorities in the House and Senate, and they’re facing voters who are increasingly worried about rising costs.
It’s also not the first time Trump has talked about sending money to Americans.
At the Dallas Republican convention in early September, he promised $5,000 to American adults if Republicans win the midterms. He has made similar promises before that never materialized, including a plan to give Americans “20% of the DOGE savings.”
So here’s where we are.
The $5,000 promise comes with a condition: win the midterms. The $500 checks come with a letter.
